A new department store opened in the city, last quarter of last year, selling products all from the United States, including wholesale christmas trees. It was packed with excited people from opening to closing time. Most of the attention were directed towards the fresh Christmas tree. Everyone, children and adult could not resist touching the tree and smelling the leaves. Those that could afford the Christmas tree, were buying two, one for the main room, and the other one for the verandah. Food from the United States together with wine, cheese and imported fruits are sold in the store too. Large shampoos, soap dishes and huge bags of detergent soaps were sold in the store too. Bed sheets, pillows, mattresses are found in the bedroom section which is my favorite part of the store. But, sad to say is that most of the items in the store are a lot more expensive than the ones you see in other department store. The main reason for this is that all of the items were imported and the all come in bigger portions. There are still a lot of people that goes to the store, despite the fact that it expensive, some just window shop, and others actually buy items, and they buy items that are only found in the store like good cheese. A store that sells good and has wide variety of cheese is hard to find in this city.  

My parents did a lot of travelling when I was still young and they tug me along with them, and that is the reason why until now I still love going abroad and learn about their culture. Hong Kong is one of the best tourist destination for me, and I was glad I was able to visit it last month. I was amazed and shocked by its culture, making it one of my best travels. I saw some of the things they were famous for, such as self-cleaning toilets, vending machines almost everywhere, small apartments, big crowds, convenient subways , and all night shopping centers.   I made sure that I brought along with me some travel guides and maps before I left my country. In a foreign country where you are not fluent with their language, it is really important to plan out the things and places that you want to do and see, including where to eat and shop at. But despite my difficulty with the Chinese language, I was still able to enjoy, relax, and learned a lot of things about their culture and history. Hong Kong had many restaurants offering English menus or at the very least menus with pictures. Do not be afraid to commute in Hong kong because commuting is super easy, so you will not get lost if you want to visit city garden. The subways in Hong Kong are great as long as you properly plan out your main destinations, either before you leave your homeland, or before you leave your hotel, you will be all set. Signs are everywhere depicting everything you need such as food, restrooms, and shops, so with these, you can get what you need without speaking in Chinese. Surely, Hong Kong will always be in my heart.

My long-time friends Nicole and Albert finally tied the knot last weekend at the St. Joseph Parish in Sacramento and it was such a lovely, intimate and tearful wedding attended by the couples’ parents and few friends and we have all became witness to the couple’s proclamation of their love for each other and the special bond they share. That’s why it was such a surprise when two years ago, Nicole and Albert announced to their parents that they were already together after they met again in an annual doctor’s conference held in California and have since communicated, dated, fell in love and got engaged. Indeed, it took them years before fate finally brought them back together to meet and be with each other but it doesn’t really matter because they have a lifetime ahead of them to spend each day with each other and make the best of everyday.   My fiancé Marty, who was with me at the wedding have met and spoke to Dan and he was so kind and generous of his time that he even showed him his sample photos and videos of the weddings he covered and we were so impressed with his outputs that we asked him right there and then if he can photograph us for our pre-nuptial photos and humbly asked him if he can be our destination wedding photographer for our big wedding next year which he luckily agreed. Marty and I were so thankful that Dan agreed to be our wedding photographer because we have been contacting his office to book him but we always get a run around because he’s either busy or is out of town for a wedding shoot so we’ve both thanked him profusely because he gave in to us despite his busy schedule.
