Lords in the Waves

A bunch of flowers can be transformed into an elegant and artistic flower arrangement with a little imagination and by following certain principles of design and this will certainly add color and beauty to your home. When we talk about design, we mean it as the pattern of the flower arrangement, and it embraces the basic elements of line, form, color and texture; slender flowers or branches supply line, the variety of the plant world itself furnishes form and color, and the surface quality of the material is called texture. For example, there are woody stems and leaves that show different textural characteristics; gladioli are smooth, but chrysanthemums are coarse. Your design can follow different patterns such as pyramids, circular, triangular, cone, oblong, ellipse, or perhaps an S curve. Then a planned relationship among the components such as the container, the flowers and the leaves, need to be designed.   Interesting effects are achieved if the spaces in the composition vary in size and shape; when some of the plant materials in a grouping extend forward and others backward, the impression is three dimensional. Examples of plant materials that can be used are foliage, grains, grasses, silk flowers, branches, nuts, cones, seeds, berries, shells, vegetables, stones, driftwood, and so forth. Cut flowers can also be used but they need special treatment.
